Doesn't time fly when you're having fun! This post marks the end of 12 Days of Blogmass, I really do hope that you have enjoyed reading my fashion and lifestyle posts throughout the build up to Christmas! I've sure enjoyed writing them and look forward to doing something similar next year (possibly even one every day!). When I started this blog in summer I definitely didn't imagine how fun it would be writing all these fashion, lifestyle and beauty posts. I can't wait to get writing some New Years and 2018 posts! There's one thing left to say: I hope you have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

(I thought I'd add some photos of my year 11 ski trip from last year because they're soooooo Christmassy!)

Me and my sister set out to finish the Christmas shopping the other week and stopped for a walk around the market and a yummy treat, now I'm in the Blogmas mode I thought I had to get a few photos of the magical lights and festivities!

Late November and all through December German Christmas Markets pop up all around England, obviously, they aren't quite the same as the real ones in Germany but, they're still good enough to get me majorly excited for Christmas! Leeds does an adorable little market in Millennium Square with lots of beautiful stalls selling mouth-watering treats and gorgeous gifts like little nut cracker soldiers and glass tree decorations. I love going to the market in Leeds (possibly because I can stuff my face with Nutella crepe), just having a walk around it and getting something to eat is a great, relatively cheap, way to spend a cold December day.

As it is currently freezing in England, I put on my new vintage faux fur coat which my Grandma got me as a Christmas present at a vintage fair (for a bargain £18!). Along with the cosy coat I put on a dark grey turtle neck with a sheer Urban Outfitters top layered over it, some black skinny jeans, sparkly socks, trainers and my black rucksack. I think the look was fairly classy, neutral and minimal (even though I was wearing a massive faux fur coat!).

I'd like to know where you go for a festive day out in December, leave me comment with some ideas of fun things to do this time of year! All that's left to say is Happy Blogmas Xx

I'm a firm believer that Christmas decorations should go up on the first of December, if that's not possible, they need to go up the first weekend in December. If you don't get them up soon enough, you don't get the comfort of a Christmas house for long enough! Comfort is what Christmas is all about for me and personally my favourite style is traditional reds, greens and golds. I also own a lot of Ikea decorations which give my tree a bit of a Scandinavian feel but still maintain the classic red colour!

I'm aware I am about to sound ridiculous, in my bedroom I have a full sized fake tree. To clarify, I didn't go out and buy one for my room, it's one we previously used in our dinning room but don't have space for in our new house soooooooo I asked if it could go in my room (I might be obsessed with Christmas!). I've built up quite the collection of Ikea baubles, such as Santas, mushrooms and birds; special baubles with memories attached to them such as ice skates, home-made hearts and little woodland animals; things my mum had most her life and let me 'borrow' for my tree and, this years addition, an angle to sit proudly on top of my not-so-little tree!

I always place presents I've bought for my friends and family at the bottom of the tree to cover up the *cough* ugly *cough* base. Then in the rest of my room I hang up my stocking, display my advent calendar and get out my family of Santa teddies. This year, taking inspiration from Zoella's extreme Christmas decorations addiction, I also bought the most adorable bedding from ASDA it's covered in cute little bambi's, candy canes and Christmas trees.

My top advise for decorating this season is to keep it united, have a set colour scheme and make it flow throughout the house and use it every year. I'm aware that you'll have to make a biggggg decision on what style you will want for the next few years or even decades BUT it will totally be worth it! You'll collect special baubles and ornaments that have stories and memories and you'll build up a collection of decorations that all match and fill up the house so it doesn't look mix-match or empty.

This post is getting lengthy now so I'm going to leave it here! I'd love it if you'd leave me a comment, I'd like to see your tree's this year (twitter @ alicerhodesblog ) Happy Blogmas Xx

Every year me and my family that live further away meet up in November/December to have our family 'Christmas' dinner. Ever since I was little I've enjoyed getting dressed up for the meal, this year I decided to go for an elegant look with a classic cut dress and big curly locks. I was too busy playing Princesses and Knights with my little cousins  (turned out I had to be the dragon....brilliant!) to get photos of my outfit on the day, so I've had to do a little mock-up photoshoot in my room (hence the not-so-great angles!).

The dress isn't very 'wintery' and I actually bought it in the summer Topshop sales for £10 (bargain). However, I think my faux fur vintage coat did dress it up and made it more appropriate for this time of year (it's freeeeezing at the moment). I paired it with my pink velvet heals, burgundy bucket bag and some silver accessories to make the look a bit more glamorous and special.

I wanted my hair and makeup to be equally as classy so I made my hair big and curly. I think straight, sleek hair would have been equally as nice but I have curly/frizzy hair naturally so it's hard to straighten (it took me 50 minutes to curl so I'm not even going to attempt straightening it any time soon). For makeup, I went for purple eye shadow and lips to match my dress, I used shades from my Makeup Revolution Palette and from the MAC Christmas sets that my lovely sisters got me last year!

The meal was lovely and I think my outfit looked really nice! I'd love to know what you'll be wearing for family meals, date nights or parties this Christmas (tweet me @ alicerhodesblog ) Happy Blogmas Xx

Everyone loves a Christmas treat! One of my personal favourite snacks at this time of year is a mince pie, every Christmas Eve me and my Dad make a batch for Christmas (even though we're all too full for them after Christmas Dinner!). Here's how I make them!

For twelve mince pies you will need:

- bun tin
- large mixing bowl
-scales
-round cutters
-decorative cutters (stars and Christmas trees)

-mincemeat
-1 egg
-icing sugar
-ground cinnamon
-100g unsalted butter
-225g plain flour

1. To start of you want to make your pastry. Weigh the flour and put it into your mixing bowl; then weigh the butter, cut it into small cubes and add it to the flour. Rub the butter into the flour with your fingers until they have mixed into crumbs.

2. Next add around two table spoons of cold water to the flour and butter and stir it with a knife until it forms a dough ball (use hands if necessary). Wrap up the dough ball in cling film and leave it in the fridge for 15 minutes to half an hour.

3. Set your oven to 200 *C, 450*F or gas mark 8 whilst the pastry is cooling.

4. Take the pastry out of the fridge and roll to a thin thickness (remember to flour the worktop and rolling pin) Cut twelve large circles, twelve smaller circles, eight stars and four Christmas trees out of the pastry.

5. Line the bun tin with the large circles and fill them with an appropriate amount of mincemeat (don't over do it, they'll leak!). Beat an egg and brush the edges of the circles with it; then place the smaller circles on top and seal the edges to avoid the filling spilling out.

6. Brush the tops of the mince pies with beaten egg; place the decorative stars and trees onto the tops and brush them with egg too. The beaten egg will help to seal the pies and give them a golden-brown finish when baked.

7. Place the mince pies into the oven for 10 to 15 minutes (keep checking them throughout the bake). Once they have turned a nice golden brown take them out of the oven and leave to cool.

8. Finally, dust six of the mince pies with icing sugar and the other half with cinnamon and voila, your mince pies are ready to eat!

That's it! Your treat is ready to eat with a hot chocolate by a nice warm fire, whilst watching your favourite Christmas film (of course). I hope this post helped you make some delicious mince pies, if not it probably made you wish you had a mince pie in hand (I want one writing this!). I'd love to see your Christmas bakes, tweet me @ alicerhodesblog .

I personally love buying people gifts, seeing their reactions when they get their presents but most of all: wrapping the gifts! I know some people can't stand wrapping gifts or find it really hard but I think it is one of the most enjoyable tasks this time of year (I'm aware how sad I sound!).

Every year me, my sister and my mum head off to Ikea to buy wrapping paper, this year they have some really bright, playful paper with lots of woodland animals. I think this paper is fun and I haven't seen stuff like it anywhere else. Although I'm only giving prezzies to my friends/family this paper would definitely work well for younger children's presents too! To add interest I've tied some red and white rope in a bow around the gift and added a little 'Do Not Open Until December 25' label. You can find decorative pieces like rope and labels in all stores at all prices, my main advise is choose a colour scheme so that your wrapping all matches and pick classy, subtle pieces rather than garish over-the-top finishing touches.

This second gift is for my mum so I chose a more classic, traditional colour scheme and paper. As always the wrapping paper is from Ikea- honestly if you've never been to the Ikea Christmas section you need to get yourself down there. It's just a subtle mistletoe/foliage pattern but it's really lovely and has a bit of a Scandinavian feel to it.

To decorate, I've used some brown and red rope to tie a bow around the present and a small Christmas Card with reindeer silhouettes on it for my label, another wrapping tip is to not always use things for what they're meant to be- a small card can make an excellent label! What really makes this wrapping stand out is the little Nut Cracker soldier bauble I've attached to the bow! You could use any type of bauble for this idea, it does push the price of the gift up a bit but it adds another small treat your friends can keep for life!

I've only shown two examples of how I'll be wrapping gifts this year, I try to make all my wrapping unique and fun (I could talk about wrapping all day!) I hope you've drawn some inspiration from these examples- I'd love to hear your wrapping tips and tricks- leave a comment below! Happy Blogmas!

Christmas is one of my favourite seasons. Especially because I can do smoky golden eyes with bold berry lips and it doesn't look over-the-top or too dressed up, it just looks Christmassy. This is one of the makeup looks I've already been enjoying and will definitely be wearing for the rest of December.

For my face makeup I started with my Nivea moisturiser and MAC prep + prime primer. I don't usually wear primer as I have pretty dry skin so the makeup tends to not move about over the day but if I'm going to a party or dinner I'll use it to guarantee my makeup stays put. Then I used my beauty blender to put on my Rimmel Wake me Up foundation in the shade Ivory. I swear by this foundation, it gives me perfect coverage and makes my dry skin look alive and healthy, however, if you don't like heavy makeup it's not for you as it's majorly full-coverage. Then I used the matching concealer to cover any spotty areas.

For contour I've used the Rimmel Insta Duo contour-stick and the Maybelline Master Sculpt powder to add some colour back to my face and give my cheekbones a bit more definition. Finally for highlight I've used the benefit High Beam liquid highlighter with the MUA pink powder highlighter on areas I wanted more glow. I don't always use powder as it makes my dry skin look a little flaky and dead but I take the powder brush just to blend my face and neck perfectly.

Next, onto the fun part! For my eyes I used the Makeup Revolution 144 shade, 2016 edition palette to create a golden, smoky eye. I used a cool brown shade along my lash line and then blended it out to give myself a winged effect; then took a warmer toned brown and blended into and a bit above the crease; finally I took a gold shimmery shade and put it across my lid, blending it into the matte browns. I finished off with my MAC Extreme Dimension 3D black lash mascara. To make my brows big and bold, but still natural I used the Benefit Gimme Brow in the shade 5.

To finish the look of I used my Models Own 'Strawberry Mojito' matte red lipstick. It's bright, fun and Christmassy. To make the lip more special and glamourous, I added a coat of Tanya Burr's 'Sugar and Spice' lip gloss over the top! A little trick I learnt for a really bright lip is using a matte colour and then a gloss on top for a bold, statement finish.

I hope you enjoyed my post! I don't claim to be a makeup expert/guru but I just wanted to share how I'll be doing mine for the Christmas season this year, I get a lot of inspiration a tips from Tanya Burr's makeup tutorials- I highly recommend them if you don't watch her.

It's that time of year when you're either buying winter coats and cosy jumpers or over-the-top sparkly dresses that you're bound to freeze to death in waiting for your lift after the party. I went shopping a few days ago and my god have the high street stores got Christmas party looks nailed. Whether it's luxurious velvet or garish sequins they've got us covered and I couldn't be more happy about it. I thought it would be fun to pick a few of my favourites from the high street stores to show you!

(please note that all the photos below have been taken directly from the stores websites, I do not own any of them)

Urban Outfitters dress £66.00

It's safe to say Urban Outfitters know how to make a good party dress. All year round they sell the most outrageously beautiful slip dresses, but for Christmas there's nothing better than a sparkle and this multi-coloured sequin covered dress will certainly be turning heads! I'm obsessed. It's bold yet subtle with delicate straps leading from a high neck line to a low back; paired with some statement boots this look would be a killer.

Topshop jumpsuit £46.00

Topshop always provide when you're looking for a more sophisticated look and this gold jumpsuit screams Hollywood glammer. The plunging halter neck is perfectly balanced out by the classy leg length, leaving a stunning winter look. I'd style this with a faux fur coat and some simple heals, just like Topshop have, for a jaw-dropping evening look.

H&M dress £39.99

This dress has a subtle nod to the eighties with slightly puffed out shoulders and a chic silhouette, to me it screams 'badass woman'. Paired with sleeked back hair, an oversized leather jacket and thigh high boots this dress will make the ultimate statement. The high neck, long sleeves, bold fabric and flawless cut out back create the perfect party dress for this season.

New Look dress £33.74 (down from £44.99)

You'll definitely be kissed under the mistletoe in this breath taking slip dress. It's elegant, young and covered in sequins, what could be better! The floral detail is uncommon for party dresses at this time of year but I don't hate it, in fact I think this design is gorgeous and looks far more expensive than the price it is. This dress paired with some chunky baby-pink velvet heels and a floor length faux fur coat would make the ultimate party look, one worthy of a Gucci catwalk.

Primark dress £15.00

Last but not least, trusty Primark have brought out a range of must-have dresses for really reasonable prices. This simple little black dress is timeless and versatile, styled correctly it will definitely look different every time you wear it. Unique from the average LBD, this Primark slip has a sparkle tassel detail all over it, adding a bit more intrigue to the simple number. Styled with anything from an oversized denim jacket to a fur coat this dress will look festive until the end of time!

That's it! As it's already quite a long post (I hope you like reading!) I have only covered main pieces rather than styling out whole looks. I really enjoyed writing this so I think I'll be doing stuff like it again, leave a comment if you're interested.

This post is on a serious subject. Some people are for it, some strongly against. Christmas jumpers, you either love them or hate them and I'm here to take you through my favourites for this year. Of course being a fashion lover and taking style seriously, I adore ugly, over-the-top Christmas jumpers. I'll be covering a range of prices to showcase Christmas in jumper form from all high street shops.

(I don't own any of the photo below, they have been taken directly from the companies websites)

Topshop £55.00

This jumper is just the right balance of a garish Christmas jumper and a normal winter jumper. If I were to put money on one high street store making a '3D wreath jumper' look normal and, dare I say it, classy, I'd say Topshop could do it. I'm not saying I'd go to a serious event in this explosion of Christmas however I wouldn't be embarrassed walking around college in it. The actual jumper looks like a timeless cut and the wreath itself is fun and Christmassy without being too in your face like some  Christmas jumpers. The only problem with this for me is the price, if you're prepared to pay £55 for a seasonal item then you NEED this jumper- it's brilliant! But for me, it's over priced.

River Island £28.00

Dinosaurs and Christmas all in one jumper. I think I need this in my life. I'm obsessed with this men's River Island jumper, it's cool, fun and I could definitely wear it outside the house without feeling stupid, which is always a plus. It reminds me of a Coach jumper I've been obsessed with for a while now but obviously because it's from River Island it's a lot cheaper! Similar to the Topshop jumper I think it's a little bit too expensive but if you obsess over Dinosaurs the way I do, this will no doubt already be in your wardrobe.

Monki (via ASOS) £20.00

It's festive, it's fun, it's a bright pink sweatshirt covered in Christmas trees. There's not much more I can say other than I love this Christmas jumper. Somehow Monki have created a Christmas clothing item that is stylish and possibly even more wearable than the Topshop jumper. Yes it screams Christmas, but it's done so that it doesn't take anything away from your outfit. You'll still look like a normal person in the streets, just one who knows how to celebrate Christmas in style.

 Asda £16

Here's a little super market find for my review. I normally think Christmas jumpers from supermarkets are a little bit boring and mass produced however, the Asda men's section have impressed me this year. The photo doesn't show off this jumper well as you can't see that Santa's beard is actually fluffy faux fur and soooooo snuggly! I'm obsessed and really wish I'd bought it now. For me it's also a much better price for a jumper that realistically you'll wear about ten times a year. Asda had some more lovely pieces but they were all in the men's section, personally I have no problem buying/wearing men's clothing but it did annoy me slightly that the women's was mainly pink and sparkly rather than Christmassy.

So that's it, my top four Christmas jumpers for 2017. I will admit, I struggled finding jumpers which I really loved this year- there's too many slogans for my liking. However, I think these four, although on the pricier side, are really something special! I hope you enjoyed this post and have got an idea of where you'll be buying this years jumper!

Before I start I'd like to say Alex Shulman was a brilliant editor and was British Vogues longest serving editor-in-chief, so she is a pretty impressive woman! However, for me, Vogue was loosing it. The covers began to feel boring and more worthy of Cosmopolitan or Glamour, not Vogue. The magazine was in need of a breath of fresh air, something new and exciting. Edward Enninful has provided what I was looking for.

Growing up I have associated Vogue Magazine with glamour, high-end fashion and the ultimate guide to fashion forward trends. In the last few months it had lost this idyllic status in my mind, I wasn't enthused by new issues or raving about the cover photos- it felt too safe, like it was equal to all other large fashion magazines. Rather than being the 'it thing' it was picking Celebrities that would sell copies and taking generic headshots for the cover photos. It wasn't satisfying my need for interesting angles; bold, garish cat-walk-style fashion choices; bright playful colours and refreshing, innovative ideas. It was just same old, same old. So I turned to independent, lesser known magazines and journals for more daring covers, breaking the boundaries between fashion and art.

Edward Enninful is, for me, Vogues saviour. He has chosen a cover photo that is new and intoxicating. The photoshoot has used a makeup look that isn't just a smoky eye and nude lip, it's playful and vivid. But the colours aren't just blue and red they're wild, electrifying and contemporary. It isn't something people are already wearing, it's something they're going wear because it was in Vogue.

That for me is what Vogue is. It's not what people are already doing, it's what people are about to do. It isn't predictable or of-the-time, it's what's about to happen- always one step ahead. If Edward Enninful keeps his covers this fresh and exhilarating Vogue will once again be what it was to me growing up- the epitome of what's about to be in style, or should I say, in vogue.

There's nothing better than buying presents for your friends and family. Christmas is a time for giving and there's lots of cool things in the stores to help you make a loved one's Christmas extra special! I've put together a little present guide with the type of things I'd buy my friends and sisters all within a £5 to £20 price range.

(I don't own any of the photos below, they have all been taken directly from the company's website)

'Under the Kissletoe' Too Faced, Liquid Lipstick set, £20

Before I start I'd like to applaud Too Faced for the most adorable pun ever! 'Under the Kissletoe' has to be the best Christmas makeup set name of all time. Onto the actual product, this is a really beautiful makeup set with four diverse and festive shades which will make your friend look fabulous for their New Years parties! I personally think it's a great value product considering you get four different shades and formulas for only £20 (Only £5 for a Too Faced liquid lip!). It's also cruelty free and vegan so praise all-round for Too Faced!

'You Grow Girl' Topshop T-Shirt ,£18

Next up is a bit of fashion! I personally like to buy my friends things I know they'd genuinely use rather than novelty/joke gifts. I think buying clothes, as long as it's something your friend would wear, is a really cool idea. I know my friends would adore this cute little top, it's on trend, comfy and you can never have too many white t-shirts! To top it all off 'You Grow Girl' is a brilliant pun. This one isn't very festive but you could pick out something more Christmassy if you like a theme.

'Gingerbread Man' Hot Water Bottle, Paperchase, £15

This gift is a bit more gimmicky and a lot more festive. I can't speak for everyone but I love a good hot water bottle at this time of year, the only thing that could make it better is if it were shaped like a gingerbread man. Paperchase have ticked all the boxes with this charming little gingerbread man; I feel it's important to add they also stocked a mini hand warmer version.

'Rudy' Bathbomb set, Lush, £12.50

Personally, I love to catch up on YouTube in the bath however I am aware some people don't like baths at all (weirdos). So a Bathbomb set wont be up everyone's street however, if your friend does enjoy baths you can't go wrong with a lush set. This one is affordable, festive and just really cute! The set includes two bath bombs: Butterball (creamy and relaxing) and Christmas Sweater (contains lots of spices to warm you up) and of course the adorable little reindeer gift wrap. It's vegan and animal cruelty free!

Sloth Mug, Urban Outfitters, £9

Last but not least, Urban Outfitters always stocks some gorgeous homeware. This sloth mug is so cute and the little illustrations make me chuckle! I picked this one out because my friend loves sloths but obviously any mug from places like Urban Outfitters, Home Sense or IKEA would be a great present. To finish this gift I'd probably buy my friend some hot chocolate packets, marshmallows and sweets so she or he could fully enjoy their new mug!

That is it! I hope you enjoyed this guide and found some inspiration for your friends or families gifts. I tried to make this lower budget as I personally, being only 16, don't spend loads on my friends prezzis (after all it's the thought that counts).

The shops are full of delightful finds at the moment and there are certain pieces I've had my eye on for weeks. As I'm broke and can't afford any of them, I thought I'd tell you about them instead!

(please note that I do not own any of the photos, they have been taken directly from the stores websites)

H&M £49.99

Primark £25.00

I am absolutely loving faux fur coats. I actually already own a leopard print coat and I wear it almost every day, it's certainly the time of year for them and the stores have stocked up. Like the H&M orange fur coat, lots of high street stores have opted for bold, vivid coloured coats which make a garish statement. I adore this H&M coat and think it looks so high end and stylish. Personally, I think this would look amazing if you regularly wear black and white/ monochrome, it would stand out and make an awesome, fun statement in your wardrobe!

Primark have put out a lot of coats this year and they are lovely! This white fluffy fur coat is a great example of how to look chic on a budget. It's subtle yet stylish and would compliment almost any outfit. If I were looking for a new coat or jacket this year I'd be heading to Primark as they have got some classy designs!

M&S £49.50
Primark £15

Statement chunky boots are always in this time of year. Florals, metallics and velvets seem to be the in thing (Primark are also stocking fluffy boots, which I'm not hating).  Me and my mum must have spent a good five minutes gawping at the M&S boots in store last week, the floral design is absolutely stunning and worth every penny! If you're looking for new shoes and have a bigger budget, those are the ones! However, if you're budget is smaller, Primark is the place to go. I own these blue velvet shoes and oh my god they are perfect. Stylish, comfortable and on trend, everything you could ask for in a pair of boots!

Topshop £65.00

New Look £22.99

I wear my wide leg trousers a lot and I'm actually looking for a second pair, I've had my eye on the super high waisted Topshop ones since they came in but I'm not sure I can justify spending £65 on them at the moment. I tried them on and the only downside to them is I'd have to wear heals with them all the time, apart from that they're perfect! If you're looking for something unique and on a higher budget, these trousers are what you need. I can see that they aren't to everyone's taste and would definitely be out of some people's comfort zones but as a lover of seventies glam rock fashion, they're right up my street. When they go on sale I might have to make a cheeky purchase!

The second pair from New Look are very on trend right now. With the gorgeous rich, winter colour and glamorous velvet material you can't go wrong. They are definitely flexible and could be dressed up and down for any event. I'd pair them with a turtleneck or chunky jumper and some trainers or heeled boots (depending on the occasion).

Urban Outfitters £36.00

H&M £17.99

Last but not least I have been loving the sparkly jumpers! When is there a time more appropriate for a glittery jumper than winter. Urban outfitters have got it spot on with their sparkly, long sleeved tops! They have quite a few in store but I think the rainbow detail in this one is particularly eye catching, setting it aside from the rest. I also think it would look really cute tucked into the high waisted Topshop trousers! Finally, this H&M jumper is really beautiful, the picture doesn't show how amazing the glitter is but if you see it in store you'll understand why I like it so much. They have it in lots of different colours and it really works to make a cosy outfit a little bit more original, fun and stylish.

I'd really like to know what you've been loving in store at the moment, leave me a comment or tweet me @ alicerhodesblog . Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed the post!
